Although Shiatsu was only given its name at the beginning of the 20th century, its roots lie much further back, we can guess thousands of years. We can follow its development from around two thousand years ago through this mainly PRACTICAL and EXPERIENTIAL workshop!

How would it feel to experience “flood-like Qi” coming down through the body from Heaven, as it was first conceived before the meridians system was formulated? What were the first meridians depicted, and how do they feel? What happened in bodywork when Japan was closed to foreign influences for 200 years? What are the different styles of Shiatsu popular today? We can explore answers to all these questions and many others with our experience of touch and feeling.

I hope we can realise through this seminar that everybody’s Shiatsu style is unique, and yet everybody’s Shiatsu style is linked to a common history of multiple influences and explorations, of which we can all partake.

This special workshop is just for Shiatsu College teachers, assistants, graduates and students, as Carola would like to share this work with us all before taking it out to the wider Shiatsu community.

There is a maximum of 20 places available and they will be going on a first-come-first-served basis, so get in touch with me very soon if you would like to attend.
