Paul practises Acupuncture and Shiatsu in Brighton. He has taught both of these subjects since 1979, concentrating on Shiatsu since studying in Japan in 1981 under Shinmei Kishi, which was the culmination of seven years of previous Shiatsu studies. 

He taught Acupuncture at the International College of Oriental Medicine for four years. His long experience of Traditional Chinese Medicine in practice and his wide studies of both Chinese and Japanese internal exercise systems characterise his unique approach to teaching Shiatsu. 

He is a founder member of both the Shiatsu Society and the Register of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and was one of the first members of the Shiatsu Society’s Assessment Panel. He is the author of The Book of Shiatsu (Gaia Books, 1992).
