Carola began studying Shiatsu in 1978. Since then she has qualified as an acupuncturist and gained a diploma in herbal studies, while continuing to study and practise Shiatsu. 

She co-authored the best-selling Book of Massage, writing the section on Shiatsu, and presented a six-part series on massage for Thames TV in 1986, with an accompanying book. 

She wrote ‘Accupressure’ for Macmillan in 1995. Her latest book is the advanced textbook, Shiatsu Theory and Practice (Churchill Livingstone, 1996). She has been teaching Shiatsu since 1981, was a founder member of the Shiatsu Society, and was one of the first members of its Assessment Panel.
