Course requirements:

There are no academic entry requirements, but the course does involve both practical and theoretical studies. Students should have a reasonable command of English.

The first term of year one is considered a probationary period. Progress is monitored continually by practical tutorials, class tests and by formal examinations and practical assessments at the end of each year.

Missed classes and assessments will necessitate booking extra-curricular tutorials. There is a minimum attendance requirement of seventy five percent of class time.

Anatomy, physiology and pathology are taught from a Shiatsu theory perspective. These modules are compulsory and any student unable to attend, or complete home study assignments may be required to repeat the module the following year.

Venue:

Our courses will take place at:

The Bermondsey Street Studio
76 Bermondsey Street
London
SE1 3UD

The Bermondsey Street Studio is approx. 10 minutes walk from London Bridge Tube and Main Line stations. Visit www.bstreetstudio.co.uk to see what the space is like.

You will need:

Pen and notepad (coloured pens/pencils can be useful), a file for the notes we give you and some transparent document wallets for your homeworks.

Please bring a couple of soft cloths such as large men’s handkerchiefs, to lay under your face when receiving Shiatsu and to use when working on the face and neck.

Clothes that you have worn on the train or bus are not suitable. Please bring a change of clothes to work in.
Loose fitting clothing (preferably natural fibre), such as “T” shirt and tracksuit trousers are ideal. Skirts are unsuitable.
Remember to bring socks and a warm 'top' to put on as one can easily become cold whilst receiving Shiatsu.

Personal hygiene is of vital importance. Please ensure you have short, clean nails and that long hair is tied back.

Set Books for the First Year.

The Anatomy Colouring Book by Kapit and Elson, Harper Collins
