Our practitioners' course is popular because:

  • you study with a range of teachers, all of whose work is different, so you gain a broad view of the potential of Shiatsu
  • Part of your studies will be annual master classes with Paul Lundberg and Michael Rose, two of the most experienced and respected teachers in Europe
  • working from The Sussex Multiple Sclerosis Treatment Centre, you are taught about the potential of Shiatsu within an integrated healthcare setting.  Studies are geared to ensuring that our students are ready to work within the NHS, non-statutory sector etc.
  • students recongise the advantage of attending a school whose assessments are fully accepted by The Shiatsu Society UK:  once you have graduated you will have no further exams to sit in order to be accepted into the register of the Society.  We are the only school between Lewes to the east through to Hampshire and beyond in the west that has this facility, making the natural catchment area for the Brighton branch wide and diverse.
  • Links with other charities and organisations means that you gain broad clinic experience.  In the 3rd year you work as a team to run all aspects of the clinic (with support of the teachers) so that you can explore business and promotional strategies and gain invaluable hands-on experience of adminstering a Shiatsu practice prior to beginning to launch your own practice.
  • All your work is assessed via assignments set throughout the year and short tests done in class. This format ensures that you digest the information gradually throughout the year rather than cramming for a final exam. It is particularly useful if you have a history of difficulties with exams, dyslexia and other learning difficulties.  You do not have to present the assignments in prose form - many students use the assignments as a chance to reconnect with their creative capacities in drawing, collage, mixed media; bringing inventiveness and humour into the learning process - as long as we can tell that you have learned what you need to we are happy to receive work in any format.
